Dr. Collins Kipngetich Tanui, Ph.D., is a highly accomplished scientist and researcher specializing in Microbiology, with a focus on pathogens of human importance (pathogen genomics and infectious diseases). He currently holds the position of Principal Technical Officer for Pathogen Genomics at the Africa Union – Africa CDC. In this role, Dr. Tanui is responsible for leading strategic planning efforts, implementing pathogen genomics surveillance programs across Africa, and building capacity for pathogen genomics research and surveillance in Africa Union Member States. He is an expert in data management and communication, ensuring that research findings are effectively disseminated to relevant stakeholders. Dr. Tanui has made significant contributions to public health by leading responses to outbreaks such as cholera in various African countries and spearheading projects to strengthen sequencing capacity for disease detection and surveillance.
Dr. Roselida Owuor holds PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology from Maseno University, MSc. from University of Nairobi and a degree in Biological science with specialization in Zoology and Botany from Egerton University. Dr. Owuor is a Deputy Director of Research in the Directorate of Research, Science and Technology in the State Department for Higher Education and Research, Ministry of Education.
